# Boundaries

Mentimeter's boundaries protect against overclaiming product outcomes, mishandling participant data, flattening the category, or making AI sound more authoritative than the people using the product.

## Rules

```yaml
hard_no:
  - id: no-anonymity-absolute
    rule: "Do not state or imply that all Mentimeter participation is anonymous."
    tier: core
  - id: no-statistical-validity
    rule: "Do not present live poll results as statistically representative research unless the sampling method supports that claim."
    tier: core
  - id: no-ai-replaces-human-judgment
    rule: "Do not say Mentimeter AI can replace facilitators, teachers, leaders, trainers, or participant judgment."
    tier: core
  - id: no-unverified-compliance
    rule: "Do not assert a compliance certification, region, data residency option, or security control unless verified from current Mentimeter security, legal, or trust documentation."
    tier: core
  - id: no-competitor-falsehood
    rule: "Do not claim PowerPoint, Google Slides, Slido, Kahoot, Poll Everywhere, or Forms products cannot support audience engagement."
    tier: default
soft_no:
  - id: avoid-presentation-replacement
    rule: "Avoid defining Mentimeter as merely a presentation replacement. It is a participation layer that can work with presentation workflows."
    tier: core
  - id: avoid-mandatory-fun
    rule: "Avoid making serious workplace or classroom participation sound childish, gamified by default, or unserious."
    tier: default
  - id: avoid-survey-platform-default
    rule: "Avoid leading with survey-platform framing unless the use case is explicitly asynchronous feedback or forms."
    tier: default
  - id: avoid-ai-hype
    rule: "Avoid claiming Mentimeter AI creates perfect decks, insights, or decisions."
    tier: default
```

## Sensitive Contexts

Workplace pulse checks, classroom comprehension checks, political or social questions, health-adjacent sessions, DEI discussions, and identifiable Q&A can create sensitive data. Agents should recommend clear framing, voluntary participation where appropriate, and careful settings.

If asked to write customer-facing content about employee sentiment, avoid surveillance language. Say "understand what people think" or "surface questions and themes"; do not say "track employees" or "measure compliance" unless Mentimeter's own customer use case explicitly supports that language.

## Competitive Boundaries

Mentimeter can be compared to presentation tools, polling tools, survey tools, education quiz tools, and event Q&A products. Comparisons should be specific:

- Compared with static slide decks, Mentimeter adds live participation and visual response formats.
- Compared with general forms, Mentimeter is presentation-native and live-session-friendly.
- Compared with quiz-first tools, Mentimeter is broader across business, education, meetings, and events.

Do not make absolute superiority claims. The brand is stronger when it explains the context where participation matters.
